Feature & Follow Friday

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Question: Back to school. Create a reading list for the imaginary English Lit class you’ll be teaching this semester.

I took a really great Lit for Adolescents class at my university a year ago, so my list is modeled after that class (because it was honestly one of the greatest classes I've ever had).

1.) Looking for Alaska by John Green
2.) Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
3.) 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson
4.) Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger
5.) The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
6.) Nancy Drew and The Secret of the Old Clock by Carolyn Keene
7.) I Am the Messenger by Marcus Zusak
8.) Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls

  1. Except for Chbosky, John Green and Markus, I don't know those other authors that you've mentioned. But I think I can handle them, Teacher. :D

  3. It's been so long since I've thought about Nancy Drew. My mom was a fanatic about her. Me, not so much, but I still enjoyed some of the books.

  4. I never was a major Nancy Drew fan. My Aunt tried to get me into her and kind of failed. Then again, I was more the Pippi Longstocking, Anne of Green Gables sort! :) I still need to read Where the Red Fern Grows. Woefully my childhood lacks that book! New Bloglovin, GFC, and Twitter follower.

Nancy Drew will make an interesting introduction to the Detective Story genre! I've always thought that The Hidden Staircase was superior to The Clue in the Old Clock, though. ;-)
